Alexandra Bryant Vocal Tuition

Soprano Alexandra Bryant started teaching years ago when a friend begged her for a few voice lessons.  She quickly realised that sharing her knowledge of vocal technique and performance craft was deeply satisfying and a calling of its own.

Alexandra’s studio consists of singers from all walks of life, young, aspiring professionals, adult beginners, and everything in between.  She firmly believes that good technique is the foundation for all healthy, happy singing.  Regardless of your musical goals, singing brings joy, confidence, and the pleasure of musical expression.

The core of Alexandra's technique is the Italianate bel canto, or "beautiful singing."  In practice this means a focus on breath control, consistency, and ease of production throughout the entirety of the vocal range.  She is committed to ongoing study of vocal pedagogy, and is an active member of AOTOS, The Association of Teachers of Singing.

Alexandra provides a variety of services:  one on one instruction in her studio, lessons at your home, group, and online lessons may all be accommodated.

She is also the director of several musical ensembles.  Women interested in performing Early and Baroque music, please get in touch!  Some prior experience and basic sight reading skills required.

TESTIMONIALS

Laura Huston, Potter

I have been working with Alexandra for under a year and it's been such a pleasure.  Her firm yet encouraging teaching style has improved my technique significantly.  I have noticed a definite improvement in my voice and am able to sing with more control and confidence.  Alexandra has really helped me to realise my ability and I am extremely excited to discover what I can do under her guidance.

Fiona Hutchins, Violinist, AGSM

At 57 I was a little embarrassed to ask for singing lessons having never had any before. My voice isn’t particularly nice but I wanted to know if it was possible to improve it . Alexandra immediately put me at my ease, and even in my very first lesson I learnt how to make a better sound and had exercises to practice, which to my delight I can do anywhere. Learning with Alexandra improves my wellbeing. I come away with a smile on my face, a skip in my step and my heart feeling nourished.

Dori Wright, Jazz singer

Over many years my vocal range had shrunk to almost nothing.  I was amazed that during our very first lesson Alexandra helped me to free my voice, improving my range and vocal flexibility with fun, simple exercises.  Her understanding of the technical and psychological aspects of singing and performing is outstanding.
